Origin: U.S.A
Jazz pianist Eric Mintel works as an urbane and intelligent improviser, arranger, and composer whose straight-ahead approach frequently weaves classical themes into the music. He came into the world in Pennsylvania in 1967, revealing an early aptitude for music that led him to begin playing jazz by his early teens. Legends including Dave Brubeck, Bill Evans, and Duke Ellington left a strong mark on his development, prompting him to launch his own ensemble in 1993. Since that time his appearances have ranged across numerous contexts, among them engagements at the Kennedy Center and the White House plus a featured appearance on Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz on NPR. His recorded output includes the albums Hopscotch from 2002, Dynamo from 2004, and the 2005 box set The Eric Mintel Quartet.
