MILLENNIUM PARADE

Genre: Rap, Alternative Rap, Asian Pop, J-Pop, Asian Rock
Origin: Japan
Daiki Tsuneta, the Tokyo-based producer, songwriter, and frontman of the Japanese rock outfit King Gnu, assembled Millennium Parade as a creative collective whose expansive sonic palette draws from alternative rock, pop, hip-hop, jazz, and electronic music. Members contribute expertise across music, film direction, visual effects, design, and illustration, shaping the group’s inventive approach. The project surfaced in 2019, then gained traction in 2020 when “Fly with Me” served as the theme for the popular Japanese animated series Ghost in the Shell and later received a remix from DJ/producer Steve Aoki. Additional partnerships with J-pop stars Sheena Ringo and Char followed, as did further screen work on director Mamoru Hosada’s acclaimed 2021 film Belle, for which the collective supplied the central theme. Later that year they issued their self-titled debut album, an ambitious concept effort steeped in Japanese folklore. In early 2024 the group returned with the dizzying single “GOLDENWEEK,” a pulsing, dancefloor-filling track shaped by Tsuneta’s time spent in London and Los Angeles.
